People are risking life and limb on a popular Lancashire cycle path due to dangerous e-scooters, it is claimed.
“When you go down the cycle path when people are coming home from work or going to work these are the times when you tend to see them. You can be running down that cycle path and you’ll look over your shoulder, and there’s an e-scooter there; on some days you might see three or four. He said: “They said they did a survey on what people wanted but I’ve not seen any extra lighting or CCTV cameras there, and in winter, the light is not safe for people with these e-scooters. And what about ladies walking up and down the cycle paths in the evenings?
In a letter, seen by Lancs Live, sent to police, Mr Hewitt said: ““On a number of occasions, my running partner and I have just managed to avoid a collision with the machines; you do not hear them approaching from behind and when you look over your shoulder before moving to the side to pass others using the cycle track, they are upon you due to the speed they are travelling.
“I am sure you are aware that a number of crimes are committed on the cycle path yearly....just back in July 21 a teenager was arrested for carrying a 30cm machete along the cycle path near Asda.”
