E-scooters have been increasing in popularity, with many people opting for a more green way of getting about.
But with trials currently going ahead for allowing e-scooters on roads, we want to know your thoughts on whether this mode of transport should be utilised more readily. The trial for e-scooters on the roads is currently underway until November this year, and sees the requirements to ride one on roads or cycle paths reduced to just having motor insurance and a regular driving licence.
No
No.
I don't think they should be allowed in shopping malls
Yes and definitely NOT on pavements
Not a chance..
They certainly shouldn't be allowed on pavements!
I think anything that is on the road should be made to have insurance. They can cause accidents just like people driving cars & other vehicles.
No! Having been nearly flat packed by a couple!
No
No
No.
Definitely not
I’ve recently been to the US on holiday. They are all over the place and I’ve seen riders hitting and scraping cars - mainly when vehicles are stationary at traffic lights. I assume the driver of the car will have to pay for the damage. In which case, in Uk, they need insurance
They don’t even use cycle lanes, just speed down pavements so pedestrians have to step onto roads or cycle lanes to avoid getting hit.
Nope
I think the main problem is the co-existence with pedestrians. If you can devise a system to prevent them going on the pavement, guarantee they won't go against the lights at pedestrian crossings etc then they are OK.
Only with Insurance, road tax, MOT, with clearly defined registered number plates, and crash helmets as mandatory.
I don’t know. I am unqualified to answer that
Of course they shouldn’t be! The people riding them have no regards to the Highway Code and ride down pavements, sometimes inches from peoples house doors at speed, giving innocent pedestrians little chance of avoiding them. BAN THE LOT. get e scooter parks for them to ride
The one thing that should be compulsory is helmets for the riders safety. For all ages. i’m amazed some riders have not been seriously hurt or killed on the roads.
If you dont allow them on roads then they will go on pavements, where they will terrorize pedestrians.
Do a CBT and insure them, then yes. Some teenage twat will get himself killed otherwise
Spain Italy and loads of other countries have no issue but England will make you get licences and insurance and pay some sort of stupid tax to ride these
Absolutely not
Better than the pavements they currently use em on
NO !!
You can sum this up in one word NO !!!!!
No, they should be jailed!
As long as the riders are insured and the wearing of helmets is mandatory and they are subject to the same rules as other road users.
As long as they are Insured and Taxed, mobility scooters what goes over 4mph are.
If it keeps them off the footpaths yes.
Yes, e-scooters are not the problem, just some of the idiots on them, just like with bicycles
Depends, the bog standard ones are only like pushbikes. The more powerful ones should be classed like any other motor vehicle. Taxed MOT insured, and at least a CBT to ride. I’ve seen some keeping up with traffic on a main road
Yes, works in other European countries
Yes, small, quiet, environmentally great. Perfect local transportation tool. Police them, insurance essential, minimum age limit but join the rest of the world and get them legalised.
NO
No got enough with bike's...
yes can’t be any worse than the clowns on bikes
