Christian leaders have welcomed the government’s announcement that places of worship in England will be allowed to reopen for individual prayer from 15 June, but Muslim and Jewish leaders said the move was not appropriate for the way they practise their faith.
What gives some people the idea that Guardian readers can’t go to church?
For Catholics Eucharist is fundamental. Hence, Mass was celebrated at least twice daily in my parish. Lauds, Vespers, Compline more moving said antiphonally - as a community. But glad knowing refuge for silent prayer is open again. Faith is not about “little me”.
Surely it is far too early to open places of worship. Peoples safely has to be more important than attending places of worship and possibly catching or passing on coronavirus. Wouldn't social distancing be a problem?
My parish church has lots of young folk; people from 40 nations.
