A Police Ombudsman report into the PSNI handling of the investigation of Katie Simpson's death has found that some officers committed misconduct.
Concerns have been raised over the police investigation into Katie’s death, with an Ombudsman investigation carried out. “We have had a circa 1,400 page report from the Ombudsman which has identified officers having committed misconduct. “There are now others that have admitted their responsibility in criminal courts and await sentencing in May with regards to the covering up of Creswell’s activities.”
Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck said the information was received by police but a post-mortem led to the PSNI believing the death to be ‘non-suspicious’. “On the basis of those findings and on the basis of the evidence available at that time it was accepted by police that the incident was non-suspicious.
