Asian products were worst offenders, with over one-third of all sauces exceeding limits

Popular brands of table sauces and marinades on sale in the UK contain “excessive and unnecessary” levels of salt, which could be putting consumers’ wellbeing at risk, a health group has warned.

How silly - what is the point of journalists if they parrot press releases without applying the common sense? I'm no defender of shoddy British manufactured 'food', but fish sauce is used 1 tspn for 6 people, not 1 tbspn for 1 person; these calculations are fatuous.

This is daft. Fish sauce and soy sauce are used instead of crystallised salt, not ketchup.

I know . That’s why I love Soy sauce. The Action on Salt social club need ignoring at every opportunity

yes, that is why you only add small amounts to dishes, anyone chugging half a bottle of soy sauce or thai fish sauce every meal has bigger issues than the average sodium level in those products.

I’m sure they do but it all depends how much you add. If it’s a dash it’s OK.
