Dr Jo Warcaba says she often runs over her appointment times so she can deal with more than one ailmentThe NHS is under increasing pressure and GPs say they are seeing those issues on a daily basis.
Dr Jo Warcaba is one of the GPs at the surgery and says the pressure on GPs is "an ever-increasing problem because we've got an ageing population". "You've got to do it well, [when] patients come in they've saved up their problems because they haven't been able to get an appointment."If you miss that opportunity then quite often they're coming back again and again."Wendy Ward, Moulton surgery's practice manager, says despite the increasing number of patients appointments are still available
"There is so much we do, [seeing] people with different health concerns [and] dealing with them in different manners," she says."It's about us having the right people on board delivering different services," she says. She says it only has eight clinical rooms, meaning it is "difficult" to offer all the services the surgery wants to.
"Inevitably we need to not spend as much time with everyone as we normally would, you just try to provide the best possible service you can in the limited time you have," he says.Team leader for administration and reception Fiona Linham says patients do not always need to see a GP
This is true and then they say if you want to discuss something else you must book another appointment!!
I booked my last appointment online for a face to face. Pre warned the GP of the health issues I needed to discuss. When I saw her I had the longest appointment ever!
Basic common sense
Nope, it's just by the time we get an appointment there's more wrong with us 😂
yes, i am guilty of that. i get fed up with trying to get through, 30-40 mins is usual, and then all slots are gone, told to ring back next day. however, GPs insist on discussing only 1 issue and tell you to book again. problems go on til you're at breaking point.
That's becaue no one can get an appitnment by the time you do several other things have croppe dup
Patient: 'I keep getting pain in my left arm and -' Dr: 'Hold it! I'm prescribing you some deep heat for tennis elbow' Patient: 'but I also have chest pains, and I -' Dr: 'STOP RIGHT THERE! You need to make another appointment for that' Patient: 'Hnnnnnnnnnngggg' *dies*
And muppets like this just annoy people more 😉
But if they are like my GP, one problem per appointment, that’s a block booking…..
🤔well by the time you do get a appointment the original ailment has caused more problems plus the mental stress of wondering am I going to get any treatment it’s not surprising . GPS get a backbone and demand help instead of going along with this lunacy
“So Mrs Smith, how many problems have you saved up, this time?”
well we can’t get appointments and you’re only allowed to discuss 1 ailment per appointment so is it any wonder people get more sick and frustrated and hope that a GP will help them with other issues in a single appointment?
Every time I go and see a doctor they say what do you want us to do As if I’ve been to medical school and should know the answer
I book a regular appointment to discuss multiple issues in my health. When I feel unwell, I ring for an emergency appointment, but of pot luck getting through, but always get through eventually, then have the “triage” questions and advised that the doctor will call me. Works ok
can you blame them.feels pointless ringing the GP. one minute after the lines open there'll be 50+ people in the queue for my local GP. if you're lucky enough to be one of the first to dial through you'll get an appointment, otherwise it's 'ring up tomorrow'. feels like a lottery
Sadly I am not in good health and if I asked my GP to review only one problem per (rare and infrequent) appointment slot it would take over a year to get everything done, During that time I'd be playing Russian Roulette with the issue that might be killing me.
Local surgeries have manifestly given up caring.
The GP does not have enough time with a patient to discuss diagnose and treat illness within the five minutes they get.
GPs have caused so many problems for the NHS. And they have no shame.
They are filling the need for counselling left by cuts to mental health services
Well Mt GP stops me and tells me to make another appointment if I talk about more than one problem despite the fact that they may be connected
this is true
