A last act of heroism from the family bird.

A pet parrot has been hailed a hero after saving his owners from a house blaze by yelling ‘fire’ to wake them up.

But Louis the parrot started squawking ‘fire’ – despite never having uttered the word before – which was enough to raise the family from their slumber. But Barbara, a 63-year-old retiree from Lebanon, Tennessee, US, said: ‘Louie is a true hero. If it weren’t for him I probably would have been sleeping during the fire.’‘When I woke up, the fire was starting to spread across the living room floor.’The fire started in the early hours of February 3.
