A new state school has come under fire from parents who say its decision to serve vegetarian meals and ban food from home is discriminating against their meat-eating children.
Veggie is good, but the children should be allowed to bring packed lunches if they wish, for example, we are raw vegan so this would not work.
The school's decision is dumb.
It's fantastic. Look at the Head's reasons of inclusivity and nutrition. Encouaging children to value a healthy diet for a million reasons is a laudable goal for anyone in education. I hope more schools follow this example.
I would have loved to go there. My high school force feed us moldy hotdogs.
New school, parents are told what the school dinner policy is, choose to send there kids there, then moan about the choice of dinners. What is wrong with these people?!
I mean, they knew what they were signing up for. But banning packed lunches sounds stupid. As a kid whose parent earned just enough to not qualify for free meals but couldn’t pay for school meals is tough. A packed lunch was easier for my mum.
Veggie menu - great news, I tried for years to get meat free Monday at my childs primary school. I was unsuccessful sadly.
we shouldnt force kids to be vegetarians.... a balanced diet maybe but eat meat!!
All I remember from our children at school they used to avoid the salad section There was so much foodwaste vegetable waste Isn't it a democratic society...shouldn't children have the choice?
Going home hungry because she didn't like the food not because there wasn't enough. Children are spoilt and demand the un-nutritional fast food their parent's supply, educate the parents. The meals on jamieoliver ’s report looked fabulous and delicious.
See no issue with this as it makes sense to a certain extent. Banning packed lunches tho the issue I would take with it. That’s draconian and suggests an ulterior motive
Well done, Swan School.
Good!! And hopefully more schools will follow. It's about time that we do more about meat consumption. 😀👍
The short explanation is that Quorn is a “mycoprotein” fermented in vats from a fungus found in soil. A fuller – but still heavily truncated – one is that it is made from a strain of the soil mould Fusarium venenatum by fermenting it, then adding glucose, fixed nitrogen, 1/2...
What a WONDERFul idea, well done Swan School!
Stop killing animals, great news. Stop producing army of disabled people by feeding them junk food.
People do need to cut down on meet but not cut it out completely meet is part of a balanced diet they should have at least one meet dish to catering for everyone at lunch time.
Who is running our schools. Infiltration by minority groups using our children for their own ends. Time to piss them off for manipulation of children.
An Ag is killing Mother Earth
Parents were made aware of the vegetarian policy prior to admission. Parents were made aware of the vegetarian policy prior to admission. Parents were made aware of the vegetarian policy prior to admission. Parents were made aware of the vegetarian policy prior to admission.
Would never have done for me.
It's completely practical (covers all dietary requirements except allergies), it's healthier, and it's ONLY 5 meals a week FFS!
One progressive school.
I take it Messi turned you down then
So they bloody should. It’s up to the parents how they raise their children. We are not all brainwashed idiots who seem to think veganism is helping the world. If our children want to eat meat then they should be allowed to
It’s easy unless they are supplying free food just refuse to pay they’ll soon allow your kids to take sandwiches.
I disagree with their policy, but if parents were made aware before admission, theres no excuse to be outraged now.
Well done that school.
An educational establishment that has clearly not done their research but is following propaganda by the big food companies that promote the likes of Quorn
Sustainability in action.
‘Parents were aware of the policy before admission’ Enough said!
I was angry until I read 'Parents were made aware of the vegetarian policy prior to admission.' Choice is important, the parents had a choice so no complaints from me.
Well done to the school for taking a lead on what we all need to do.
Never heard anything so ridiculous! What's wrong with them being given a choice? Nonsense!
Appalling that they are allowed to do this children need a balanced diet not plants
Might as well you nutters ban everything else that my be enjoyable in life !
