Over 100,000 Scottish exam grades to be reinstated after row

More than 100,000 Scottish exam grades which were marked down last week will be reinstated, by restoring results to those recommended by teachers, Scotland’s education secretary, John Swinney, has said.

If these are cumulative exams why aren't they made anonymous for grading purposes? This sounds like you not only have to know the material, you have to make the teachers like you as well. Which sounds like a built-in method to screw over the poor. Again.

The exam system has always been flawed. Modular assessments throughout the year, rather than one test to determine your future. Is there an ideal solution to this that leaves everyone happy? No. But in these unusual times, if you make a mistake, admit it and try to fix it.

If the system is accepted to be wrong then you can’t just upgrade the downgraded grades to teacher estimates. You HAVE to downgrade the algorithm upgraded grades too. Makes a mockery of the whole thing & disadvantages next years cohort supremely as they will be in uni competition

Justice is done. However, the consequence is that the whole cohort have worthless grades. In future, every employer will look for 2020, across the four countries.

SNP know that kids have parents. Thats 1000's of kids. If you lose the parents you lose voters. Its a spectacular u-turn, with no credibility but votes matter.
