One year on: RAF Scampton campaigners stand firm against asylum centre

RAF Scampton residents campaigning against the Home Office’s proposed asylum centre say they are not backing down ahead of the one-year anniversary of the controversial project’s announcement.

Friday, March 8, will mark a year since Gainsborough MP Sir Edward Leigh stood in Parliament and disclosed the government’s plans to house up to 2,000 single male asylum seekers at the former home of the Dambusters near Lincoln.A fiery debate around the possible reintroduction of the Lincoln Christmas Market has been rejected by city councillors as part of budget plans for this year.

Leader of the Conservative opposition group, Cllr Tom Dyer, presented three amendments to this year’s council budget for 2024/25 at Full Council on Tuesday, February 27.The largest caravan club in the country is seeking permission to create a 150-pitch strong campsite and glamping park near Belvoir Castle.for the extension of a caravan site at Sedgebrook Road in Woolsthorpe by Belvoir — just outside of Grantham by the Leicestershire border.
