Jessica Anderson ran the London Marathon trying to beat the world record for the fastest marathon time for a woman wearing a nurse's uniform.
She told Guinness World Records that she wanted to challenge the record and sent in photos of her in the uniform, so officials could track her during the race. An official explained to her:"For the purposes of this record, the nurse's uniform must include: a blue or white nurse dress, a white pinafore apron, a traditional white nurse's cap. Tights are optional."She says these costume rules would apply to men or women wanting to run in a nurse's uniform for a record bid.Jess wrote back asking them to reconsider what she calls this"outdated and frankly quite sexist" attitude for future races.
He also told Jess that other professions do not have realistic uniform criteria, as"the fastest marathon dressed as a chef requires a chef's hat to be worn and a large pot to be carried".

Oh ffs! It's the rules! Well done for running the marathon in such good time - but if you're going to attempt a challenge then you should familiarise yourself with the rules before you start.

I'm in hospital a lot and I have never seen a nurse in a dress it has always been scrubs, it's the same for Male nurses (whom are a common sight also) yes GWR MEN! You expect them to wear dresses? Bang out of order she was in uniform! What about Big Ben? He was helped across!

Not really an issue as the criteria were clear and need to be consistent. Costumed racers are all about the costumes they wear. Change the criteria to something more efficient ensures she is likely to beat the times of previous and current runners who abide by the constraints.
Why have such an absurd record in the first place? Isn't it obvious that outfits change over time? Did the original nurse that got the record wear running shoes of any sort? Any rules left open to interpretation are not worthy to be rules.

I was in hospital last week and nurses wore dresses and some of the doctors wore scrubs. Part of the dress code is 20 year out of date though. You will never see a nurse with an apron or hat

It’s about consistency, I see her point though. Eg for a World Hour record attempt on the bike it had to fit some specific criteria to be eligible. Maybe they should rename it “traditional nurse’s uniform”?
Scrubs are scrubs. Uniforms once worn by nurses, that nowadays are only available in shops that caters for fetish enthusiasts are another matter. Fastest nurse though, even if she ran it dressed as a banana she'd still be fastest nurse.
