Boris Johnson is adamant that increased nuclear power capabilities improve the UK's long-term energy supply.

said the energy strategy is ‘not enough’ and is ‘too little, too late’ to help families with rising costs.

A fleet of new nuclear power plants is at the heart of the strategy, with Mr Johnson claiming ‘nuclear is coming home’ and suggesting a new reactor will be built every year, in a social media video to promote the plan. The strategy is published as western countries wrestle with high energy prices and consider how to reduce reliance on Russian oil and gas

Some 5GW should come from floating offshore wind in deeper seas and planning reforms will slash approval times for new wind farms from four years to one year. A new licensing round for North Sea oil and gas projects is planned for the autumn to cover the ‘nearer term’, despite a UN report this week which called for rapid and substantial cuts to fossil fuel use to avoid dangerous warming.

We need to embrace existing nuclear energy (and next generation nuclear) to effectively tackle the climatecrisis and get to net zero/energy independence.

Boris Johnson’s energy plan backs big increases in nuclear, wind and solar power🔴 The Prime Minister says ‘bold’ steps will ‘reduce dependence on power sources exposed to volatile international prices’ FREEDOM is VERY EXPENSIVE.... dependence on power sources is not it ! if we turn off the utility the standing charge and vat and the overheads of the government agency offs = offgem off watt buggeroffs and so on. Perhaps the U.K. should buy the surplus nuclear power stations in Germany and keep them online and supply the U.K. via the interconnector and sell surplus off to Europe. Quick fix . BorisJohnson

The Guardian view on Boris Johnson’s energy strategy: missed opportunities | EditorialEditorial: The government has failed to seize the moment and build on public enthusiasm for renewable energy Let's face it, if this strategy had been produced by Labour, the Guardian would be lauding it. Opposing for opposing sake. Like Thatcher a promise of nuclear power which failed. The answer is with better insulation for old and new homes. This will reduce the use of energy now where nuclear will take years. Wind, solar and tidal power must be advanced sooner than later. Johnson pushes this just days after vulnerability of a nuclear plant to terrorists or opposing armies became obvious in Ukraine. Seems dodgy Boris isn't into the UK being secure, safe, having longevity or quality of life. But hey, he'll look like crap to pretend that's normal.

'Keep families out of it' Boris says amid row over non-dom status of Sunak's wifeBoris Johnson has suggested it is wrong to probe Rishi Sunak's wife's non-dom tax status because families should be kept out of politics. 'Keep our families out of it, while we try and kill yours' When someone with less than 0.1% of her wealth is paying more in tax than her, you know we are living in a broken country. It’d be nice to have a chancellor who knows how a credit card works and doesn’t need to borrow some ‘pleb’s’ car for a photo op. No problem BorisJohnson RishiSunak provided I don't need to divulge my OHs earnings if I need to apply for benefits.
