The Serbian tennis star received a document from the Australian government confirming he met the requirements for quarantine-free travel, the documents say.

Novak Djokovic, who is fighting deportation from Australia, tested positive for COVID-19 on 16 December, according to court documents.

The world tennis number one is in immigration detention after having his visa cancelled when he arrived in Melbourne on Thursday. Djokovic said in his court application that he had a valid visa and medical exemption from the organiser of the Australian Open. The outspoken critic of mandatory vaccination is currently embroiled in a row over whether he is exempt from the country's COVID inoculation rules. The application says he received a document from the Department of Home Affairs on 1 January indicating he met the requirements for quarantine-free travel into Australia.

Reports say Tennis Australia told unvaccinated players they may be able to obtain a temporary exemption if they had recovered from COVID in the past six months, according to a leaked letter.

Tricky for court Unwarranted detention. 🤔 💵s Decision deferred. 🤔 🎾s Nauru and Manus Island. 🚁

If COVID-19 is anywhere, it is potentially everywhere. COVID-19 vaccines will save many lives.

It does make you think, would anyone going to Australia on a visa trust the ausgov that they are not going to change their minds afterwards!

Yet he was very publicly seen at those days out and about. So he was going around while positive with Covid.

Applies for visa in November stating has had recent infection. Gets 'infected' in December? We can smell his bullshit all over Australia

If you are in their country, abide by their rules and go home !

🙈🙈

I'm sorry but they let him in by shoving money into my hand..........Naughty!

Go home Novak can’t be special treatment rules are rules

Unnaceptable to put the best tennis player in the world, at risk in any way, he would not be arriving in Australia without correct criteria Govt have exceptions, tennis players should boycott tournament

Who cares!!

Send him home and charge him for everything 😡

Send him back home then!

Utter garbage. He's number 1 tennis player, brings all that money into the sport, defending champ. There no way he won't play. Smack in the face tho for everyone around the world who had to face lockdowns whilst celebs do whatever they like. He's not excempt from dying.

Not only refused the vaccine, got covid and has the audacity to try and break Australia's rules while all the plebs have to. He is arrogant and as soon as his quarantine ends he should be deported from Australia and banned for life. Also investigate who gave him the visa.

It's funny how people have been treating Djokovic this week. I guess be kind only works one way

Just kick him out the country ffs!

Send him home

Proof?

Surely then he would be more than happy to have an antibody test as PCR and LFD could give a positive result

A one line story.

Why are people accusing him of lying here? Two panels of medical experts granted him an exemption. It's very likely that his previous infection was the reason. He is Covid-negative & has a natural immunity from having it previously, so what's the problem?

This guy should be ejected.
