Police issued a statement after major cordons have been set up in Nottingham. There is a vast police presence in the area on Thursday morning, June 30. Officers were called to the Barra Mews, in The Meadows, to investigate after reports of an assault. A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident.

His injuries are not believed to be life-altering at this stage, the force confirmed. The investigation is still ongoing. At least five separate cordons were set up at the scene by police and a number of officers were seen at the scene.Detective Inspector Daniel Johnstone, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to Barra Mews, The Meadows, at around 11.50pm on Wednesday following reports of an assault.

“A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident after sustaining injuries that aren’t believed to be life-altering at this stage. An investigation is still ongoing to establish exactly what happened, so we’d ask anyone that has any information that could assist us with our enquiries to get in touch with police immediately by calling 101, quoting incident 874 of 29 June 2022, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Neighbours in the area have voiced their concerns as they woke to a major police presence in their area. Sahrish Iftkhar, a mum-of-two who lives nearby, said she heard someone crying in the street last night. "There was a crying noise," the 33-year-old recalled. "The kids were sleeping and there was too much noise so I closed the window. But I don't know what happened. I'm scared because it's not good." Concerned local residents contacted Nottinghamshire Live to report the incident. One said they had not been allowed to leave for work due to the cordon.
