The fund to renovate the fire-ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris today reached the one billion euro mark as President Emmanuel Macron said the cathedral would be rebuilt in five years.

Was the quick declaration of an accident suggest strongly that they haven't a clue so their accident line was political.
I think this absolutely brilliant, but maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen anything mentioned about the church donating any funds. But then again, they've only got about €4bn in assets, I guess they're a tad strapped.
If the fund raising donations continue at this rate they may well have enough to employ an army of artisans on and off site.

Love that Macron has said NotreDame will be rebuilt in 5 years. He'll be long gone by then so can say any damn thing. He won't be around in 5 years for anyone to say, 'Hey, I thought you said this place would be finished by now?'
