A stunning sight may be visible in the skies in Scotland tonight as the Met Office confirms that the Northern Lights may well light up the night.
These particles can be deflected away but some are captured in the Earth's magnetic field - thus creating the aurora borealis, or the Northern Lights. This tweet was published on March 24 but the Met Office's space forecast states that "minor to moderate geomagnetic storm intervals probable for next 12 to 18 hours following CME arrival".
Special equipment won't be required as this special light show can be seen clearly by the naked eye. The Met Office's forecast has shown rain for most of Scotland tonight so you may not get a good chance - but fear not, there may be another opportunity.
