When to see Northern Lights over Yorkshire skies tonight as aurora alert issued

You won't need any posh equipment or telescopes to clock the astrological phenomenon, say experts.

That's because the glowing multicoloured light show should be visible in our skies with a mere glance at the heavens this evening.The amber aurora alert has been issued tonight and it means the Aurora Borealis could be visible tonight, in this part of the country, as well as in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Keen northern lights spotters are best placed to head to high points, hills, and dark places away from big cities and light pollution to give themselves the best chance of spying the lights.The alert states: "Aurora is likely to be visible by eye from Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland; possibly visible from elsewhere in the UK.
