In the eyes of those who knew her, Rebecca Joynes was a “nice and quiet” person who lived in a leafy village.
In later years, she visited the gym and enjoyed holidays including one to LA with her ex-partner. In social media posts, Joynes was described by her dad, who attended court to support his daughter, as a “perfect child in every way” who from “child to adult was always at the top.” She was suspended from her high school job and on bail for alleged sexual activity with Boy A, 15, when she took the virginity of a second boy, 16, who she later became pregnant by. A source told the ECHO after being suspended from her high school job, Joynes returned to working at her parents’ tearoom, Isabelle’s, on Telegraph Road in Heswall.
"She’s quite quiet. She came across as being a nice person but she was upset over something, at the time I didn’t know what the thing was. I’m surprised because she was a quiet girl. It was a shock I suppose.” He told detectives she had 'planned a date night', putting rose petals around her apartment and hiding notes for him to find, which led to a babygrow with the words "I love my daddy to the moon and back," written on it.
