NHS prescription charges in England to be frozen

The Department of Health and Social Care said the freeze meant prescription charges would not increase until at least April 2023 and would save patients who pay prescription charges in England £17m.

The announcement comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson asked ministers to come up with measures to ease the pressure on household budgets. And Claire Anderson, of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, said people who do not qualify for free prescriptions because of their income, age, or medication type, often had to make decisions about which medicines they need.

Should be free like the other nations. Freezing the charges like they are helping us out! Pathetic!

Scrap the cost altogether for prescriptions. Let the four nations be level with each other. They keep shouting the want to 'level-up', good way to start.

How about letting the whole UK population who are able pay for their prescriptions. Maybe then it would be cheaper as the coat would be spread. The system is so broken it needs rebuilding from the ground up.

They are free in NI and Wales. Not sure about Scotland. So not saving me anything. I suppose if you do the sums may be about 30p saving...enough to cook a meal. This government really does think the general public are thick!

Except pensioners and those on low income support get them free anyway, so the worst off won’t be helped at all by this.
