Thursday's front pages focus on the health secretary urging people to get Covid jabs to avoid new restrictions.

Many of Thursday's papers lead on the health secretary's warning that if not enough people get vaccinated, it is more likely that Covid restrictions will be reintroduced in England. The Daily Mirror says the "fight" is "not over" and reports that cases could reach 100,000 a day. But the government is "accused of dragging its feet" over introducing its winter Plan B, the paper adds.

The paper says there was a "sharp change of government tone at the first Downing Street pandemic press conference in five weeks". Whitehall insiders say the government is "unlikely to consider" rolling out its plan B before mid-November, it adds - after the COP26 conference in Glasgow. The editors at the Metro have had some fun with the news that people are being urged to get a Covid booster in one arm and a flu jab in the other. The paper dubs it a "call two arms".
