Theresa May's hectoring tone in Brexit speech was the result of frustration, says Jeremy Hunt

The foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, has suggested the hectoring tone of Theresa May’s television Brexit address was the result of the “extraordinary pressure” she has been under.

What about our frustration?

Good for Bercow. The votes last week should have been carried out months ago. This approach was solely and completely Theresa Mays as she didn’t and doesn’t want to listen. Intransigence pure and utter!

No reason to 'thcream and thcream until she's thick'! May

Frustration that her determination to put party before country is not shared by all MPs. She is a disaster and is not on my side. How can she complain that some MPS are reluctant to knowingly vote to damage the country. Revoke Article 50.

So is mine.

Laughable.

They said the same thing in Germany in 1933

He's just jostling for position...

Worried to see Hunt trending....is this a leadership pitch on rad 4?

She was in full control of the situation which caused her frustration. We've only been able to watch as she brings the UK to the cliff edge. This is her doing, pandering to her party and clinging to DUP in increasing desperation. No sympathy.

Who could blame her?

Treat Brexit, like a yard sale. In where, you're neighbours take all good stuff. Leaving you, with an egg cup and broken badminton racket.

It was the tone of a failing dictator. Shame on her.

She I a not competent, capable or honest

Putin has Kompromat on May she's terrified he'll release it if she doesn't get BREXIT It was/is a Russian intelligence operation & May & all other supporting politicians s/b investigated for treason

Frustration. Oh, and total contempt for anyone except herself - you forgot that

Never in history has Britain been tested by a PM, as May has tested us.

Ugh. I suspect that many voters actually found her finger-pointing at parliament bizarre and shameful. Given that her deal has been comprehensively beaten twice, it's now time 'to get on with it'. Surely revoke A50 is the only sane move left.

I once read a review of an Interpol LP that described Paul Banks as having a “hectoring baritone”. Paul Banks is ace, the PM is shit.

Incompetent and awful

No PM in living memory has been so incompetent, reckless and tin-eared.

Rabbit in headlights will do anything to stay in her job

'Theresa May's hectoring tone in Brexit speech was the result of frustration' I wonder if he knows just how ridiculous that statement is.

If she had sought consensus we would not be in this shit. Her ludicrous xenophobic red lines are a massive part of the problem. This frustration & stress is largely of her own making - she is deaf, blind and obsessive. Unfit for office.

If you are the Prime Minister then you find solutions. You don't get frustrated like a child.

Hmm has Jeremy heard of Winston Churchill? He was tested by events too. Government of National Unity.

Would a written constitution have prevented this Brexit quagmire?Philip Johnston: Would a written constitution have prevented this Brexit quagmire? No, we have amendments up the wazoo and we get shit down. A constitutional expert stated last night that the 1604 Thomas Erskines work on the proceedings of government that a motion or amendment'which is the same, in substance” as something already voted on should not be brought forward again in a session of parliament' 1/2 2/2 wasnt correct because new info had come to light due to the way MP's had voted in the HoC last week, therefore MV3 should be allowed to proceed-not that i agree that it should keep coming back! This was from a constitutional expert, not John 'the Dwarf revoke Brexit ' Bercow
