The red colour on the map shows where the M25 will be closed over a weekend in May A seven-mile stretch of the M25 will be shut next month, drivers have been warned. As our map shows, the motorway will be closed between Junctions 9 and 10 in Surrey in both directions from 9pm on Friday, May 10 until 6am on Monday, May 13. This is to allow concrete beams for a new bridge and gantry to be lifted into place.
National Highways senior project manager Jonathan Wade warned that the next shutdown will be ‘far from a repeat of the previous closure’ as the diversion routes are ‘longer and will be different for over-height vehicles and all other traffic’. ‘Drivers listened to our advice last time which reduced motorway traffic levels by over two-thirds and meant delays were limited,’ he continued.
