A football fan who called cops “pigs” after being asked to hand over a bottle of vodka admitted he deserved to be punished for his behaviour.

Barry Arnot was in Glasgow Central Station on November 4, 2023, ahead of a football match between Aberdeen FC and Hibernian FC at Hampden Park.Shortly after 4.15pm the 48-year-old boarded the 4.20pm ScotRail service to Mount Florida.He was advised of the zero-alcohol policy on board trains but refused to hand over the bottle to police.Arnot handed over the bottle however as police walked away he shouted towards them “f*****g a*** h****, f*****g pigs”.

He was arrested and taken to London Road police office where he was cautioned and charged and made no reply. Representing himself Arnot told the court that he accepted that at the time of this offence, he had been under the influence of alcohol from the night before.
