The vote took place simultaneously with elections to the London Assembly and some local council by-elections in the capital. The mayor of London is responsible for covering policing, transport, housing, planning, economic development, arts, culture and the environment with an annual budget of around £18 billion per year.
Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 2. Constituency results of the London mayoral election will be declared first, at each of the 14 counts across the capital on Saturday, May 4. Mayoral elections took place in East Midland, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, North East, South Yorkshire, West Midlands, West Yorkshire, York and North Yorkshire and Salford.
