I visited the luxury hotel to see if it really lives up to the hype

Liverpool is fast becoming known as a brilliant city break location and with hotels like the Municipal it’s easy to see why.

So far so good, the lobby was beautiful enough that I’d have been happy to wait a while in the splendour but I won’t complain about swift service. After getting the formalities out the way I was directed to my room and walked through the central Palm Court, which is easily the hotel's crowning jewel.

Bathrobes and slippers were hanging on the door to my delight - nothing says grandeur like lounging in your hotel room in a robe. There's was no need for me to bring my own toiletries either as the Culti Milano shampoo, shower gel and moisturiser were probably worth more than all my bathroom products at home.

Restaurants and bars It's hard to have a favourite part of the hotel but the restaurants and bars are definitely the centre of attention. Unlike the more exclusive spa areas and hotel rooms, these vibrant areas can be accessed by anyone whether they've got a hotel booking or not.
