Gareth Southgate has called out the names of his 23-man squad for England's game against Germany, but missed several big name out of the list.

has also been left out, though that is down to suspension having picked up his second yellow card of the Nations League campaign in the defeat to Italy last Friday.forward Jarrod Bowen are the other names to have failed to make the cut.

With England already relegated from the top tier of the Nations League, having picked up just one point in five games and failing to score from open play in any of them, it was expected that Southgate would use the Germany game to try out more inexperienced players. However, this does not appear to be the case, with Alexander-Arnold now in serious danger of missing out on a place on the plane to Qatar. The 23-year-old right-back has never been an England regular under Southgate, with Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier and Chelsea’s Reece James ahead in the pecking order.

Tomori’s omission has also drawn criticism, given how well the 24-year-old has performed since moving from Chelsea to Milan last year, and the struggles of more established England centre-backs like Manchester United’s Harry Maguire.
