Organisers of the football tournament are facing criticism over a lack of affordable accommodation.

England football fan, Paul Clegg, is hoping to watch his team play in Qatar but is concerned about accomodation

"I've just booked a room for the first four nights and I am paying a lot for it. I haven't found any reasonably priced options, so I am not sure where will I be staying after that," he says. The BBC spoke to more than two dozen fans who still have not managed to book any accommodation. With less than two months to go, their concerns are growing.

In a statement to the BBC, the country's Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy said the Gulf state would deliver up to 130,000 rooms in time for the tournament. The BBC requested access to visit the fan villages, but permission was declined by the authorities. The sites are reportedly still under construction.

“Hotels in Doha” on instagram has the best deals on accommodation reservations for the FIFA WORLD CUP in QatarWorldCup2022

I honestly don't know how I'll sleep tonight now I've seen this.

No football fans should go...!

I was going to go but no hotel. Should have held it across a bigger area like the whole Arabian peninsula. Qatar is a city masquerading as a country.

The World Cup. Where the BBC will drop it’s virtue signalling for a month, send multiple presenters on a jolly to a country with human rights abuses, at the taxpayers expense.

It is almost as if a geographically very small state with no history of large scale tourism isn’t a smart location for the biggest sports event globally.

Watch it on the tellybox in the comfort of your own home, with a few cans and a nice beefburger, while the missues doesnt have to be fully arm and leg covered up....

Well done

It's a good thing our planet isn't experiencing any environmental problems, because

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Jfc they didn't build any hotels 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Er yeah that's not the main issue here.

It's not just accommodation they should be worried about if they're flying there with qatarairways. Horrible cramped planes in economy with terrible service.

If you sold the tournament for their money, and it's held in an abattoir then don't expect hospitality.

Don't go, don't support a rancid regime that has used the blood of slave workers to put on their pantomime for the world. Just another medieval regime desperately trying to prove they're a modern country while they still stone women to death.

Boycott it

I'm sure this guy can afford it if he sells part of his family's estate. that or just realise that intolerant corrupt qatar doesn't desverve it anyway

Fantastic decision to have the WC here. 👏👏👏

Accommodation? That's the least of the worries in Qatar, I'm just hoping all the fans make it through the tournament without a stadium collapsing.

All FIFA are interested in is their bank balance. The couldn't care less about the exploited workers or the public. The FA are also damned by their silence

No problems with accommodation. Just kiss someone of the same sex and they'll find a nice cosy cell for you. 💫 BBCsportswashing

Will the England team do the rainbow thing there?

We can watch it on Tv

Enjoy the sharia and human slavery cup, you cretins will pay anyone for anything

England fans won’t need accommodation fir that long.

This was destined to be a disaster from the day it was awarded. But the decision makers at FIFAWorldCup got a nice payday. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Well that chap in the photo doesn't appear at all worried. 'Bring it on' says he.
