Lincoln ‘shot itself in the foot’ by cancelling the Christmas market, shoppers say

Residents and shoppers in Lincoln city centre argue that the city has “shot itself in the foot” by cancelling its historic Christmas Market.

“I think it needs to be spread out over a longer period of time and perhaps scaled down a bit,” she suggested. You just couldn’t move.” The White Hart Hotel could be the first city centre hotel with a swimming pool — right in the heart of historic Lincoln — alongside a spa and gym complex inside the Grade II listed building.

A separate bid for a retirement living complex by McCarthy Stone was retracted in May 2023, prompting Lincolnshire Co-Op to consider various residential uses for the plot, such as sale, rental, and student housing.
