An investigation was launched in April, after human remains were discovered in South London.

Human remains found in a river in south London are likely those of Sarah Mayhew, police have confirmed.

Two people known to Sarah, Gemma Watts, 48, and Steven Sansom, 44, have since been charged with her murder. The pair were also charged with preventing a lawful and decent burial, reports the Mirror. He added: "I expect my officers to remain in the area for some time as they carry out important work at the scene. Two people arrested, who were known to Sarah, were later charged with her murder.Police have cordoned off a section of Mitcham where a gruesome discovery was made. Met Police descended on to Rawnsley Avenue, neighbouring the River Wandle in Ravensbury Park, after unidentified remains were found.
