Leicester's huge Championship wage bill has been revealed.

last season, but they have returned to the top flight at the first time of asking after superb campaign in the Championship.Maresca has done an impressive job with the Foxes, although it must be said that the Midlands club held a significant advantage over the other sides in the division.

Understandably, given they were a Premier League club less than a year ago, Leicester have the highest wage bill in the Championship. The Foxes' annual wage bill stands at £60 million, with fellow former Premier League sides Southampton and Leeds not too far behind with £40m and £39m respectively. What is shocking is that Leicester's wage bill is higher than those of a quarter of the Championship's sides combined.

Their spend on wages is almost 10 times that of Plymouth Argyle, whose wage bill of £6.06m is the lowest in the division. Leicester's huge expenditure on wages has come at a price; The EFL imposed a registration embargo on Leicester for allegedly breaching the upper loss limits in their PSR forecasts for this season.Alex Brotherton is a Sports Trends Writer at SPORTbible.
