US voters will choose between presumptive Democrat and Republican nominees Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the November presidential election.The polls have been tight so far, with most giving Trump a narrow lead over the current president. An April poll by our US partner network NBC News found Trump held a narrow two-point lead among registered voters.But some surveys taken before his conviction indicate that the result of the trial could well tip the election in Mr Biden's favour.
A poll by market research company Leger on May 3 found that a guilty verdict without imprisonment would given Mr Biden a five-point lead over his rival - rising to eight points if Trump is imprisoned.A separate survey by Marquette Law School Poll also predicted a five-point lead for Mr Biden among voters in the event of a guilty verdict.But 67% of US voters in a PBS/NPR/Marist poll carried out before the verdicts said Trump being found guilty would not change their plan to vote for him.
