Large-scale development could transform Glasgow area

The papers detail how housing, infrastructure and landscaping would elevate Summerston/Gilshochill area and create a"new residential neighbourhood".

If successful, the scheme would include a mixture of tenures and types of homes, such as townhouses, cottage flats and accommodation for the elderly. The bid stated the scheme should be"adaptable to changing and diverse housing needs, including through varying house sizes, provision for older people, accessibility and affordability".

Details are not yet known but the building will be two- or three stories and the existing blocks of flats on Shishkine Drive and Sandbank Street would be retained.The masterplan also includes play parks. The application said these"would provide formal play for older children, with informal and incidental play forming part of pedestrian routes".Documents contain two versions of the plan, one with Ledgowan Hall in its current place and one if the hub was moved.
