An investigation has been launched after a 10-year-old schoolgirl was killed by a mudslide while on an instructor-led school trip. Leah Harrison, who was a pupil at Mount Pleasant School in Darlington, died on a school outing to the scenic spot of Carlton -in-Cleveland on Wednesday, May 22.
Denise McGuckin, managing director of Hartlepool Council, which operates Carlton Adventure, has confirmed that a probe is now ongoing following the incident. She said: "We can confirm that a tragic incident occurred during one of the Centre’s instructor-led outdoor education forest walks near to Carlton-in-Cleveland yesterday.
