How many violent attacks and sexual assaults on women are there in the UK? The killing of teacher Sabina Nessa, in a London park, reignites the conversation about women's safety

How common are killings of women?in Great Britain . This means about one in four killings were of women.

- an organisation which collects information on men's violence against women - calculates that across the UK, 1,425 women were killed by men in the 10 years to 2018.Who are the victims attacked by? The other victims were either killed by strangers - 13% in the case of women and 30% among male victims - or no suspect has been identified.What about other violent attacks?It is estimated that about 1.3% of women were victims of violent crime in the year ending March 2020, compared with 2% of men.We don't have statistics which show what proportion of women were attacked by men or other women, but most people found guilty of violent crimes are men.

Lots of statistics but would like to see them broken down to the country of origin of the assailant. Then we can start addressing the problem.

It is very sad and women are at greater risk on the streets than men. It is also true many men dont feel safe on the streets either. The streets in many towns and Cities are just not safe. (But have they ever been) our local police station closed, never even see a police car.
