The site has been described as having 'enormous potential'

The Housing Executive is to launch a public consultation on the future of a contentious bonfire site in central Belfast.

Elma Newberry, the Housing Executive's director of regional services, said the land has "enormous potential". "It's clear the site has enormous potential for much-needed city centre living, creative open space and complementary commercial activity. The scale of investment will bring new employment opportunities for Belfast."

"We're at the beginning of the process and so we're very keen to hear what ideas are out there from as many stakeholders as possible and to capture their visions for the site. From the Northern Ireland Protocol to other thorny issues inside Stormont and exclusive interviews - we’ve got you covered.Several years ago the site was being examined as a possible location for a major new office building for civil servants.
