A hospital trust in Dorset has said it is investigating after a baby was handed to the wrong mother. The incident occurred at the maternity unit at Poole Hospital in September 2023, University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust - which runs the hospital - confirmed. Lorraine Tonge, director of midwifery at the trust, said on Wednesday: 'We deeply regret any distress that was caused and have reached out to the mother to offer her support.
