Add the potential for sickness to that, even at low rates, and the picture gets worse.
Omicron’s spread, once it’s established in the UK, could be slower or faster than these early estimates. It’s still too early to know. But this is a reminder of why there’s so much urgent work going on right now to understand Omicron and so much caution.
