Applause in St Peter's Square after proclamation read out

There will be further proclamation ceremonies across Greater Manchester this afternoon, similar to the event in Manchester earlier. Members of the public are being invited to attend.Residents are invited to gather in Victoria Square at 3.30pm.The ceremony will take place at Union Square, opposite the main entrance of Bury Town Hall, at 3pm.The proclamation in Oldham will be held at 3pm, on the steps of the Old Town Hall, facing the Cenotaph.

Crowds cheered and waved as his black car drove down The Mall and into the Palace gates accompanied by a motorcade of four cars and four police motorbikes.He is due to will meet with Commonwealth general secretary Patricia Scotland.There was a brief interruption to the ceremony after a woman could be heard shouting as the band were preparing to play the national anthem.

During the ceremony in Manchester, the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Lorraine Worsley-Carter MBE, read the proclamation and ended it with the words 'God save the King'. The crowd replied by saying 'God save the King' and a round of applause broke out. The national anthem was then played, and the High Sheriff asked those assembled to give three cheers for His Majesty the King.The proclamation ceremony is happening now in Manchester city centre.
