Customers complained of ‘nightmare’ queues at Heathrow airport last month as staff shortages caused chaos in recent weeks but said it can’t rule out further chaos in the face of unprecedented demand. In a statement, the airport said: “Despite our best efforts there have been periods in recent weeks, where service levels have not been acceptable, with long queue times, delays for passengers with reduced mobility, bags not travelling with passengers or arriving late.

Wizz Air will cut five per cent of its capacity over the peak summer period, the airline announced on Monday, spelling further chaos for British holidaymakers.
