Celebrations are underway outside Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah on Monday after the Hamas militant group says it has accepted an Egyptian-Qatari cease-fire proposal to halt the seven-month war with Israel.

The deal has been in the works for months After months of multiple negotiations, Hamas leadership has accepted the terms of a ceasefire deal in Gaza. But initial reports appear to show that shortly after the ceasefire agreement – about which details are unknown – will be rejected by Israeli authorities as they intend to enter Rafah. Qatari and Egyptian mediators have reportedly been informed of the decision, and further details will be announced.
