Drivers have been warned that a section of the M74 northbound and southbound will be closed this week, between junctions 10 and 11 from Tuesday 9th April until Friday 12th.

On behalf of Transport Scotland, Amey are undertaking 'essential' works on the M74 northbound and southbound carriageways between junctions 10 and 11.

This will kick-start on Tuesday, April 9, until Friday April 12, between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm each day.READ MORE: Multiple police units descend to Glasgow Green following major 'disturbance' involving 'crowd' Crews will be working on an essential access gate and wing wall edge protection installation, which is said to "benefit vehicles using this route each day".

The new works will improve the safety and condition of the carriageway structures and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future. Lorry crash on Glasgow's M74Police are appealing for information following a lorry crash on Glasgow's M74. The incident happened on Thursday, April 4, at around 12.20pm when the HGV was travelling southbound on the M73 before continuing on to the M74 northbound on-slip. The vehicle then overturned and collided with the crash barrier, coming to a rest on the flyover. Emergency services raced to the scene and the 33-year-old driver was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be 'checked over'. There was 'extensive' damage to the crash barrier as well as a diesel leakage from the lorry's fuel tank which spilled onto the roadway and on-slip. The road was closed for a number of hours while repairs were carried out.
