A member of a notorious Glasgow family has told how he endured horrific conditions in a Chinese jail, with police showing how he would be executed if he didn't confess his crimes

A Scottish man caught trying to smuggle 7.5kg of cannabis into China claims police showed him brutal public executions and told him he would get the same treatment if he didn’t confess.

In court, he was first told he was looking at a seven-year sentence. But then came some horrifying news: “The second indictment they gave me was a death sentence, or a life sentence and the minimum sentence was 15 years. All of a sudden it's gone from f*****g seven years to a death sentence.” Male and female prisoners were locked up together. He explained: “It was rat and cockroach infested, the cell was was eight feet by four feet, you slept on the floor, you had a wooden bucket in the room to p*** and s***. There was no such a thing as toilet paper – I never even saw toilet paper until I came back out after 12 and a half years.”

On the the floor below Lockie’s, the Death Row prisoners were housed. “The guys are there for 10 days and after 10 days they get executed,” he continued. “There's a small cubicle, they go in there and they write their last letter to the parents before they die. They’re asked ‘Do you want to donate your organs?’
