Games Inbox: Mario Kart 8 10th anniversary celebration

10 glorious years To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@metro.co.uk A decade on the roadJust found out that Mario Kart 8 is 10 years old this week, because of course it was first released on the Wii U and the Switch version is basically just a port. Apart from making me feel old I just want to congratulate the game on being a true evergreen. It’s very hard to imagine how they can ever beat the current game and it still looks great now, despite being a decade old Wii U game.

Current trendsJust saw the info from US console sales last month, with the PlayStation 5 8% ahead of PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S 13% below Xbox One. Incredible to think that after the disaster of the Xbox One that the next console from Xbox would do even worse. It’s not hard to understand why, with the lack of games and Game Pass not being a draw, but this was meant to be the big comeback, based on lessons learned from the Xbox One reveal. So much for that.
