Ministers urged Britons to take the rapid tests regularly in a bid to quell the spread of Omicron, but Government plans to 'ramp down' the free tests will see only key workers able to access them.

Britons set to pay for lateral flow tests from July under 'Operation rampdown', Government documents reveal. Instead, people will be directed to a website to purchase the tests, which are said to cost the Government £30.
