Trent Kone-Doherty, a former Derry City footballer, has signed his first professional contract with Premier League club Liverpool. The 17-year-old winger has had a successful first year with Liverpool, scoring 11 goals for the under-18s team and now progressing to the under-21 squad. He recently scored his first hat-trick for Liverpool in a match against Sunderland. Kone-Doherty has also trained with the senior men's team under manager Jurgen Klopp and has represented the Republic of Ireland at under 18 level.

A former Derry City footballer has signed his first professional contract with Premier League giants Liverpool .The 17-year-old winger is enjoying a fine first year with Liverpool having scored 11 times with the under-18s team and having now graduated to the under-21 squad.He scored his first hatrick for the red half of Merseyside earlier this month inside just 24 minutes in the under-18s match against Sunderland.

The Derry teenager has trained with the senior men's team under manager Jurgen Klopp and has already been capped at under 18 level by the Republic of Ireland. His home town club, Derry City, welcomed the news today with a short statement on social media: "Congratulations to Trent Kone-Doherty on signing his first professional contract at Liverpool! He joined the Reds from Derry City just last year."
