The party has clung to power by flouting political norms, but in the Cummings affair it faces an angry and contemptuous public, says Guardian columnist Andy Beckett

Will the Tories get away with it? In many ways, it’s been the central question in our politics since they squeaked back into government in 2010. Excellent piece by Andy Beckett. Let’s hope he’s right about the public mood to hold the populists to account

After being quietly stated the theme is gathering strength. Tory151719 - three of the worst governments in our history.

It's normal for government to wave their arms around & talk in vague terms on election promises, immigration or cause of financial challenges, but you can't do same or distract from 40,000 + dead. There has to be an inquiry into why UK ended up with highest C19 deathtoll in EU

i am waiting to see if you cover this story like cummings story

Think yesterday's performance and not allowing others to talk and have have their 'free speech' says it all and not only by blocking others to talk but also only wanting the people to hear what they want us to hear. Bad move Mr Boris J, very bad move. Worst cover up ever

Next election 4 years, 80 seat majority. Handing out money for people to grow out cycling, gardening. What’s to moan about?

Lack of accountability is the weapon of choice. Shocking ineptitude has cast a staggering amount of human life. Unraveling!

The funny part being that the collapse of Labour allowed the Conservatives to do all that and yet still win an election. 🤭

scumedia of the highest proportion.

I was relying on boris to take himself out of office within 2 years ...... looks like i won't have to wait that long .
