Like many others, an anxious 16 year old waiting here...those saying it's not as important as A levels...it is, it is for many college courses, it is for future careers (many refer back to GCSEs) and most importantly it is to them.

Another episode of casual incompetence from BorisJohnson - he clearly doesn't care about the reputation of Conservatives!

As a manager, teacher & mother of a 16yr old awaiting GCSE results with anxiety and mental health; I know Gavin Williams won’t have considered impact on children’s mental health. Covering the cost of appeals is easing the blow not rectifying it. Teachers judgement is best.

Opinion: Letting teachers award exam results without supervision is unfair to all studentsThe problem is that teachers’ estimated grades for their students ended up being too generous compared to the results achieved in previous years, and not by a small margin Schools should not open But surely it's also not fair that the algorithms have downgraded the private schools less than public schools. Opinion: letting an algorithm (that the Government won’t release to the public) award grades is unfair to all students - and reinforces class bias.
