A fresh bout of wind and rain will strike much of the UK this week as Storm Ciaran makes its way across the country.
Elsewhere, yellow warnings for rain have been issued for parts of southwest, central and eastern Scotland from 3am to 3pm, and in southern parts of England and Wales from 6pm on Wednesday until the end of Thursday. The Met Office says heavy rain in the north of England could see homes and businesses flooded and power cuts may occur in some areas.
“Much of southern England and south Wales, as well as parts of north Wales, northeast England, southeast Scotland and perhaps the east of Northern Ireland look to see the wettest conditions between Wednesday evening and Friday morning.” Kate Marks, flood duty manager at the Environment Agency said “significant flooding” is possible and advised people to “stay away” from rivers and the roads.
