The head of the European parliament, David Sassoli, said MEPs were prepared to look over the agreement again but would have the final say on a backstop proposal

He insisted there must be a legally operable plan for avoiding a hard border in any withdrawal agreement but the UK had not offered anything credible yet.

Why would we? The backstop is an EU unicorn for their own protection not ours

There is no way, and there never has been a way, that would satisfy the Eu as far as any backstop is concerned. It’s always been their go to position as a way of trying to guarantee brexit doesn’t happen. To that end the uk should do what it wants & let them sort it out.

Query credible with that lot.

Let Briton leave in piece. If the cascade of democracy sinks the EU, then it does.

Has anyone got any credible backstop ideas we can lend Johnson before his apathy/tax interests/promises-to-dodgy-mates drags our country into a ditch?

We must ensure that our values are respected. Only visit Iran if you have Bubonic Plague.
