BREAKING: European court won't intervene with decision to end Archie's life support.

The European Court of Human Rights has refused an application by Archie Battersbee’s parents to halt the withdrawal of his life support.

The 12-year-old boy’s treatment was meant to be withdrawn at 11am this morning after his family lost a Supreme Court battle. But Archie’s mother, Hollie Dance, was told he’d still be kept alive while the ECHR application was considered. Speaking to reporters outside Royal London Hospital, she said: ‘I’m hoping that they step in and give Archie the right to live. I think he deserves that.Archie has been in a coma since he was found unconscious by his mum in April at their family home in Southend, Essex.Archie is currently being kept alive by medics at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel through a combination of medical interventions, including ventilation and drug treatments.

Archie Battersbee: Who decides when life support ends?Tragically, for a small number of children who become critically ill each year, medicine reaches its limits. Who decides when life support ends? (Not stating my opinion, I am the neutral Poll Master) For me its the hope that kills you. The parents hope he will improve despite no medical evidence of this ever going to happen. They need time to mourn him properly but they can't do that until they let him go. All the courts said turn machine off, time to let him rest in peace. So sad for the family.
